About Us

I created my small business Rubyred in December 2006. Until then I had sold my handcrafted items at various craft fairs, a local gallery and a little gift shop in the Cotswolds. My passion for crafts grew and I changed career to become a full-time handicrafter. My house, already jam-packed with a husband, two children and a cat, quickly filled up with yarns, fabric and buttons. So, with further encouragement from family and friends, I decided to take the plunge and sell online.

Creativity must run in my family: as a young girl I was taught to knit by my mum and was inspired to knit my first jumper by the age of thirteen. By my early twenties I was making curtains, cushions and bedding. Hopefully the family tradition will be continued as my daughter is starting an Art degree next year and currently paints, makes jewellery and cards (which you might see on my site in the future!)

I now produce quality, handmade and original gifts, cards and decorative accessories for the home, all of which are of a rustic country or pretty vintage style. My lovely and very patient husband helped me design and set up the website. I took the photographs around our home and summerhouse.
